Who makes Luxe by Zee?

I do — Zainab, working alone from Karachi. I started beading the way most people do, making things for friends and then making more of them because people kept asking. The label came after the habit, not before it. I keep my surname off the site because a small shop run by one woman in Pakistan does not need her full name indexed, but the Instagram account is mine and the person answering your messages there is me, not an agency.

That is worth knowing because it changes what you can ask for. Send me a photo of a dress and I can match the beads to it. Ask for a name in Urdu and I will weave the letters and show you before I finish. There is nobody to route the request through.

How is a piece actually made?

Every piece is strung by hand, one bead at a time, and checked before it is packed. It runs in four stages, and the slow one is not the one people expect.

1. Sourcing. I buy glass seed beads, freshwater-look pearls, enamel charms and gold-tone findings from bead suppliers in Karachi, in small quantities, choosing by hand. Colour lots vary between batches, which is why a palette occasionally disappears from the shop rather than being restocked with a near-miss.
2. Sorting. Beads get sorted by colour and size before anything is strung. It is the least interesting part and the one that decides whether a finished daisy looks even.
3. Stringing. The weaving itself. A single daisy charm bracelet takes about an hour. A full daisy chain with pearl centres takes an evening. Elastic pieces are strung on nylon cord and knotted twice; clasp pieces are finished with a lobster clasp and, where the design allows, a gold-tone extender chain.
4. Checking. I pull every finished piece gently at the join, roll stretch bracelets on and off my own wrist, and measure the length flat against a ruler before it goes on its card. Anything that fails goes back on the bench, not into a parcel.

What are the pieces made of?

Glass seed beads, freshwater-look pearls, enamel charms, nylon elastic cord, and gold-tone or rose-gold-tone chain and findings. I say gold-tone rather than gold because that is what it is: plated brass, not solid metal, priced accordingly. The pearls are described as freshwater-look for the same reason.

Every listing names its own materials, because the mix changes from piece to piece. If a material matters to you — an allergy, a preference for no plated metal at all — tell me before you order and I will build it differently or tell you I cannot. What does handmade to order mean here?

It means I do not hold a shelf of finished stock. When your order comes in, I make that piece, which is why dispatch takes 1 to 2 working days rather than being same-day, and why a custom piece takes 3 to 5 days. It is also why I can put your exact wrist measurement into a bracelet at no extra charge: there is nothing pre-made to size around.

The trade-off is honest and worth stating. Made to order means small variations between two pieces of the same design — a pearl that sits a half-millimetre differently, a bead lot with slightly warmer white. That is not a defect. A piece that is genuinely wrong, or that arrives damaged, is covered by the 7-day return policy.

Where is the studio, and can I visit?

The studio is in Karachi and it takes visits by appointment only. A second maker works in Peshawar and makes the pieces for orders in that city. It is a working room in a home rather than a shop, so there is no street address published here and no walk-in counter. Everything else ships from that studio by courier: a flat Rs 200 anywhere in Pakistan, free over Rs 2,500, cash on delivery or bank transfer. Instagram is the only way to reach me, and it is genuinely the fastest — I answer messages myself, usually the same day.
